Age Is Just A Number Forum 2026

Welcome to the “Age Is Just A Number” Forum

Age Concern Taranaki, in collaboration with Volunteering New Plymouth are bringing this one day forum to New Plymouth celebrating experience, fueling the future.

Mark your calendar for Thursday, October 1, 2026! Our much-loved Age Is Just A Number Forum is back, and we can’t wait to welcome you. From 9:30 AM, The Devon Hotel will once again transform into a vibrant hub of inspiration, connection, and celebration. Join experts, community leaders, and locals for a day dedicated to exploring how we can all age proactively and live well here in Taranaki.

What to Expect

This forum is all about:

  • Maintaining Vitality: Learn practical ways to keep energy levels high and enjoy life to the fullest.
  • Celebrating Wisdom: Recognize the immense value of experience and the contributions of older generations.
  • Showcasing Resources: Discover local services and initiatives that support well-being at every stage of life.

This isn’t just a day of learning—it’s a day to connect with like-minded individuals, engage in fun activities, and perhaps even try something new. Together, we’ll challenge stereotypes and embrace the empowering mantra that age is just a number!

Featured Guests

We’re thrilled to announce:

  • Paul Rangiwahia as our dynamic MC and guest speaker.

Stay tuned for more speaker and workshop announcements as we finalize the program.

Join the Conversation

This forum isn’t just about talking—it’s about listening. We want to hear from you:

  • What are we doing well as an age-friendly city?
  • Where can we improve?
  • How can we thrive as a generation rather than just survive?

Our city councillors and central government representatives will be on hand to both speak and listen, ensuring your lived experiences and ideas shape our collective future. Let’s create a positive impact together.

A Celebration, Not a Complaint Session

This will be a positive and uplifting day. While we’ll dedicate a space to gather concerns and feedback, the focus will remain on collaboration, education, and celebration. Let’s leave moans and complaints at the door and celebrate the wealth of skills, knowledge, and attitudes our older residents bring to the community.

Limited Spots Available

Last year’s forum completely sold out, with many people missing out and joining a waitlist—so don’t delay this time! Spaces are limited, so be sure to secure your spot early and be part of the movement to make Taranaki the best Age-Friendly community in the world.

Stay Updated

Follow us on our website and Facebook for updates on the program, speakers, and how to register. Let’s make this a day to remember and a step forward for our community.

Let’s continue to celebrate aging as a triumph—not a burden. See you on October 1, 2026!
